The 7,900-square
mile Clark County School District is the fifth largest in the
nation, with over 300,000 elementary and secondary students
in 326 schools, 12 of which opened in 2006.
Another 11 began holding classes during 2007.
There
are
currently
199 elementary schools (85
year-round, 114 nine-month),
55 middle schools, 41 high schools (includes
virtual HS), and 31 alternative
schools/special schools.
CCSD employs 35,200 people.
In
addition, there are more than 195 private and parochial
schools in the area.
Nevada Clark County school district estimates that it
will spend $4.7 Billion
now through the year 2008 for improvements on the
238 existing schools,
as well as construction of 88 more schools to
accommodate the growing
number of Clark County students.

Enrolling
Your Child in Clark County Schools
Step 1: 2 forms of proof of address are
required. These may be in the form of a recent utility bill, rent
receipt, residence lease or sales contract (drivers license, telephone bill,
or cable bill are not acceptable). If you are living with a friend or
relative you must bring a notarized statement signed by you and the
owner/renter of the property where you are staying, indicating that it is
your place of residence.
Step 2: Proof of the child's identity. This may consist of an original
birth certificate or passport. No copies will be accepted.
Step 3: Up-to-date Medical information.
You must have records indicating that your child has had, or at least
started, this series of immunizations.
- Four DPT shots (ONE additional required if last
dose was given before 4th birthday).
- Three polio doses (ONE additional required if last
dose was given before 4th birthday).
- Two MMR shots (ONE dose must be given on or after
the first birthday. A second dose is required for initial entry into
school).
Step 4: Providing the following
information will also help ensure that your child is enrolled promptly and
placed in the appropriate classes:
- Previous records regarding placement in a special
program or class.
- A recent report card or transfer document that
shows the name and address of your child's last school.
- Your child's most recent achievement test scores.
- Information about any disabilities or special
health problems, such as seizures, asthma, heart problems, health care
procedures.
