Enrolling
Your Child in Clark County Schools
Step 1: 2 forms of proof of address are
required. These may be in the form of a recent utility bill, rent
receipt, residence lease or sales contract (drivers license, telephone bill,
or cable bill are not acceptable). If you are living with a friend or
relative you must bring a notarized statement signed by you and the
owner/renter of the property where you are staying, indicating that it is
your place of residence.
Step 2: Proof of the child's identity. This may consist of an original
birth certificate or passport. No copies will be accepted.
Step 3: Up-to-date Medical information.
You must have records indicating that your child has had, or at least
started, this series of immunizations.
- Four DPT shots (ONE additional required if last
dose was given before 4th birthday).
- Three polio doses (ONE additional required if last
dose was given before 4th birthday).
- Two MMR shots (ONE dose must be given on or after
the first birthday. A second dose is required for initial entry into
school).
Step 4: Providing the following
information will also help ensure that your child is enrolled promptly and
placed in the appropriate classes:
- Previous records regarding placement in a special
program or class.
- A recent report card or transfer document that
shows the name and address of your child's last school.
- Your child's most recent achievement test scores.
- Information about any disabilities or special
health problems, such as seizures, asthma, heart problems, health care

| University of Nevada School of Medicine (UNSOM) |
Nevada's medical school has had a strong clinical presence in Las
Vegas since it was converted to a four-year, and federal grants, the school has been
serving Southern Nevada for 19 years. Approximately 200 medical students and more
than 80 resident physicians are currently enrolled or are a part of the School of
Medicine. Most of their clinical training is carried out in the Las Vegas area.
In October of last year, ground was broken for the school's education/patient care
building in the Las Vegas Technology Center on land donated by the City of Las Vegas.
The 60,000-square-foot facility is scheduled for completion in the spring of 1998.
More than 900 volunteer physicians statewide. University Medical Center,
Sierra Health Services, and Sunrise Hospital are all involved in the educational programs
provided by the school. |

| Community College of Southern Nevada (CCSN) |
With three district campuses and 50 extension centers, CCSN offers
general college education, university transfer course work, occupational and customized
business skill training and continuing education to Southern Nevadans in a four county
region.
Nevada's largest institution for higher education, CCSN offers its 26,000 students more
than 2,500 classes each semester in 70 career fields. Classes are held seven days a
week from early morning until late evening, CCSN aggressively employs distance education
technology through KLVX public television to reach outlying areas. The college has
pioneered the Community College High School program on its campuses to enable juniors and
seniors to earn dual credits and graduate high school with one year of college completed.
Student enrollment is expected to double in the next four years as is the number of
faculty. More than 300,000 square feet of new academic and computing centers valued
at $52 million will be built in the next two years in the wake of a similar expansion
worth $32 million over the past two years. |
